Role: Team Member - GMC Remote Office

Division: VEPT

Function: VEPT- Manufacturing - Procurement & Logistics

Reporting into:  Section Head, GMC Remote Office

Level: Deputy Manager

Purpose of the Role

Plan and oversee procurement of materials; review and control part inventories as per the specific Importing plant requirements by following the Volvo Powertrain Systems and processes, develop relations with vendors with the objective of achieving uninterrupted supply of material requirements as per the production plans, raise Air freights and reducing associated financial risks within the limits of Volvo business plan as per policies and guidelines.

Education

  • BE / MBA

Experience

  • 5-8 years for BE / MBA

Business Understanding

  • Negotiation with supplier
  • Process and time plan sign off
  • Product Knowledge
  • Leadership
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, WEB EDI and Volvo S&OP process for planning
  • Logistics processes and key supplier base in logistics 
  • Commercial and business acumen 
  • Networking and relationship management with suppliers and internal stakeholders including Volvo teams 
  • Multiple  ERP system knowledge based on the Bussiness Area requirement 
  • Export and Import  formalities and requirements 
  • Volvo KEP7 document requirements

Area of Responsibility

Materials Procurement

Study the production plan received from Production Planning and Control (PPC) to understand materials requirements. Seek order confirmations from critical suppliers; Review the order confirmations from all suppliers. Identify and highlight the material availability gaps/variance to PPC for action. Firm up weekly/monthly production plan jointly with PPC. Oversee planned procurement of material. Visit critical suppliers on case to case basis to discuss the month's materials supply plan. Review material availability with team (daily).Provide support to team in critical supplies related issues. Escalate and seek help from supervisor, when required. Participate in daily production meeting and weekly production reliability meeting to share updates on material availability. Share the long term materials requirements plan with vendors. Identify and escalate the long term capacity gaps to concerned teams. In order to meet the production targets and spares requirement for Volvo Group.

Supplier Inventory Management

Monitor overall parts inventory in pickup Point and Supplier locations as demand to adhere the Call off based on the agreement made. Monitor in order to optimize based on the production that is in vendor Portal.

External Relationship Building

Interact regularly with key suppliers through multiple modes to resolve issues, share updates, etc.; Provide guidance to the team on resolving vendor-related issues especially with key suppliers; Conduct vendor conference and other interactive programmes for suppliers. In order to enhance and build vendor relations, Production Logistics, Multiple Plant Site Material Controllers, IMLC 's.
